The material used is basswood. Light and stable it is ideal for making thin slats.
The trees are ready for harvesting after 30 years. We leave the rain forest alone to grow for its inhabitants.

All lumber used for slats and rails origins from from an FSC certified supplier.

We store the wood for blinds in a special chamber with constant relative moisture. This gives the best guarantee for form stability.

We practice the cross-grain slitting method. As a result of this we produce striped slats that are free of the warping and twisting you might see in a slat with flames and big patterns. The cross-grain cutting is more costly but we prefer the higher quality.

The staining process is made with a custom made stain form the very best environmentally friendly components, specially for Smederöd.

Wood for blinds, free from solvents

Our finish is free from solvents. We use UV-hardening varnish that gives a hard and durable surface. The surface is guaranteed to be smooth and without raised fibers due to our dual layer of lacquer. Please compare with other surface treatments.
Standard widths of our slats are 50 & 35 mm, available in 16 standard colours.
